Sciatica is a term used to describe a series of symptoms including pain in the lower back, buttocks, legs and feet, tingling sensation, pins and needles, and difficulty in moving limbs; these symptoms are usually felt on one side of the body. This clinically referred to as “Radiculopathy” which means that a disc in the vertebral column has been moved from the place and with prominent, putting pressure on the sciatic nerve. You should clearly understand that Sciatica is a symptom not a medical diagnosis, from something that causes compression or nerve root irritation in his back.

Treatment varies from person to person because it causes nerve compression or irritation may be due to various reasons. This article takes a look at some causes of this problem.

* Spinal disc herniation: spinal discs separate the spine and provide a space for nerve roots to exit through the space. Herniation of the disk that occurs when fluid central disc protrusion consisting of external, to do this it tears through out the circle fiber, extruding into the spinal canal and pressing the spinal nerve roots. This can cause inflammation and tissue swelling more stressful and nerve roots causing pain.

* Tumors: in the spinal cord or nerve root cause severe back pain that extends to the hips and legs and causes muscular weakness.

* Trauma: automobile accidents or other types of accidents can cause damage to the nerve roots that can cause “Radiculopathy”.

* Spinal stenosis: narrowing of the spinal canal causing compression of the spinal cord and nerve roots, causing sciatic problems. Anything from bone spurs to inflammation can cause pain.

* Pregnancy: when the uterus pressing on the sciatic or spinal nerve pressure due to the additional burden, can cause sciatic nerve pain.

* Personal habits: like sitting in a big wallet in your back pocket or even sitting at your feet for long periods can cause sciatic symptoms.
