Most people who know the furniture, however, said nothing superior solid wood furniture. Why? They say the durability, style, and the real beauty is something that can not be matched with a wood veneer.

Yes, solid wood furniture is more expensive, but for those looking for good furniture best available, they say it’s an investment, because the solid wood furniture value increases with time.

The most common types of wood used to make furniture is oak, mahogany, and maple. Of this amount, oak is the most popular.

Oak is found in North America and Europe. It’s hard and heavy wood that comes in two types, red and white. Of these, the red is more popular for making furniture.

Oak stain very well, and because of the high content of chemicals called tannins, it was resistant to insects and fungi. Therefore, like hardwood, not susceptible to scratches or dents.

Another type of popular wood is mahogany. Mahogany comes from Central and South America and Africa. It’s a medium-hard wood is very strong, and brown to reddish brown color. Mahogany is very good for carving and engraving.

Maple is a genuine U.S. East, and also from media violence. This is lighter than mahogany, but the stain well, and can even finish resembles a cherry or walnut.
